BDX-USA February Book Selection

Dear all,

here is the selection of books of the month. They are on display in the foyer of BDX-USA.

The Deptford Trilogy by R. Davies

Around a mysterious death is woven glittering, fantastical, cunningly contrived trilogy of novels. Luring the reader down labyrinthine tunnels of myth, history and magic, the novel provides an exhilarating antidote to a world from where "the fear and dread and splendor of Wonder have been banished".

In this book, you will meet a lurking manticore (persian lion-like monsters with a scorpio tail and a man's face), wizzard Merlin laughing and you may rest on a "Lit de Justice".

A manticore from the Rochester bestiary book.
Man & Boy by T. parsons

Harry Silver has it all: a beautiful wife, a wondeful son adn a great job in the media. And yet, one night he throws it all away.

Discover why he did to ose all that and how he will start to learn what life and love are really all about.

S. Curtis made a film for the BBC adapted from the novel.

Master & Commander by P. O' Brian

During the Napoelan war, Aubrey - Nelson's navy lieutenant- is promoted captain of the HMS Sophie.

Bold and gifted, he looks for adventures, one after another. Helped by Maturin, both ship's surgeon and sevret agent, they will in the end clash with a powerful Spanish frigate, likely to destory the HMS Sophie.

A film was adapted from the book starring R. Crowe.
