November 10th - Tonight Bérénice Ricard, Molecular Biologist, Winemaker and Author, will delight us with the story of the creation of a garden vineyard and the problems encountered in making wine on such a small scale. Her adventure led to the writing and publication of "Microvino : Faire mon vin dans mon jardin" by Editions Confluence as well as a blog called "Microvino". Join us to learn more about "A year at Le Clos Ganda : my garden vineyard.” She also shares some of her 2011 vintage which should be the equivalent of Beaujolais nouveau and could be called Bordeaux nouveau!

November 17th Join Concetta Antonelli-Lapeyre and book club members to discuss the book ‘Namesake’ by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Description from Amazon.com:

Any talk of The Namesake--Jhumpa Lahiri's follow-up to her Pulitzer Prize-winning debut, Interpreter of Maladies--must begin with a name: Gogol Ganguli. Born to an Indian academic and his wife, Gogol is afflicted from birth with a name that is neither Indian nor American nor even really a first name at all. He is given the name by his father who, before he came to America to study at MIT, was almost killed in a train wreck in India. Rescuers caught sight of the volume of Nikolai Gogol's short stories that he held, and hauled him from the train. Ashoke gives his American-born son the name as a kind of placeholder, and the awkward thing sticks.”

Concetta will send out discussion questions in advance. Come and join us to consider, as Shakespeare said, ‘What’s in a name?’

Each year since 2003 members of the group have traveled to the U.S. to meet with their comrades (and now friends) in memory of those that were lost. After 10 years of working in Finance, they suddenly realized they had to make a choice: continue to work in a world that was very intense and stressful or take a risk to follow a dream. Et pourquoi pas la France?! They’ll share their experience of taking the ‘big leap’ to France, living in L'Entre Deux Mers and opening a guesthouse.
